About the Stoney Point Community
Welcome to Stoney Point on Lake Greenwood, a year-round residential community developed for luxury lakefront living built around a Tom Jackson-designed 18-hole golf course.
From their homes, residents enjoy views of the links-style golf course in its natural woodlands setting and of beautiful Lake Greenwood, which is still surrounded by a mostly undeveloped landscape.
With only a 10-minute drive to Greenwood’s Uptown shopping district, Stoney Point offers an easy lifestyle with great community involvement and diversity of interests. Residents range from young couples with children and professionals to retired executives. The Stoney Point Lake Club House and Marina offer year-round access to the lake and entertaining. There is a lakeside community pool for the use of residents throughout the summer and most of spring and fall. Residents also take advantage of the 5-mile street loop to jog or walk around Stoney Point, often stopping to catch up with their neighbors.
Luxury Amid Natural Landscape
Residents have chosen Stoney Point as their home because of the peaceful natural surroundings, the lakeside location, the proximity to town, great amenities and a true community feeling. At Stoney Point, you can enjoy luxury living with the ease and comfort of a lake community as well as the natural beauty of the native woodlands amid a championship golf course. The natural environment is also conducive to bird-watching, either from your home’s deck or from a canoe or kayak on the lake. We have, among others, finches, herons, egrets, woodpeckers, blue jays, cardinals, mocking birds, bluebirds, chickadees, wrens (the state bird), hummingbirds, hawks and even eagle sightings in nearby areas.
Enjoy All Four Seasons
In this area of the Upstate of South Carolina, you can enjoy all four seasons, even with an occasional light dusting of snow in late winter. The fall season offers the beauty of changing leaf colors and the summers yield enough warm weather to allow for lots of picnics, boating, bicycling, tennis and golf. July 4th is the highlight of summer at Stoney Point, featuring a community parade with floats, a hot dog supper and a truly patriotic fireworks display over the lake. It’s a time when the entire lake community is represented with boats of all kinds gathering around Stoney Point to enjoy the brilliant display. Springtime is colored by flowering dogwood trees, wisteria trailing on old-growth oaks and azaleas reminiscent of Augusta’s Masters’ golf tournament. And speaking of that, Augusta (along with Greenville and Columbia) is only about a one hour drive away.
Lakeside Living With Easy Access to Coast & More
Stoney Point is close to many major cities, including Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina. Travel is easy by car, with I-85 access within 45 minutes and the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport only one hour north. The South Carolina coast (Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and Charleston) is only 3-4 hours by car, although most Stoney Point residents enjoy staying at home because they already feel as if they’re on vacation at a lakeside resort. And they are!
